A natural wooden plate made by "bending" a Japanese whitebark magnolia tree with steam and pressure. By applying natural lacquer to the wood, the plate becomes waterproof and antibacterial, enhancing the basic qualities of the material into an easy, everyday use. This plate has a gentle, smooth curve and can be stacked which makes it convenient for storage and ideal for on the go. This special item is finished with vermilion lacquer technique. Vermilion lacquer (shumigaki) is a polishing technique in which black lacquer is applied first, dried and then a illustration is drawn with transparent lacquer, vermilion powder is applied on top of it, and then polished again to finish.
