Mon Papier is handmade Japanese paper made from kozo (paper mulberry), with small cut-out motifs interconnected to create a sheet of paper. Each sheet features a distinctive pattern, or mon in Japanese, as kozo fibers organically connect the cut-out motifs, forming a single large sheet of washi. Unlike traditional watermarking techniques or laser cutting, this washi produces unique floating effects.
This versatile paper can also be moistened and applied to a glass surface (such as a window) to create a beautiful decorative effect, adding an elegant touch to your space.
The product was collaboratively developed by the boutique washi brand WACCA and Ryozo Yanase Paper Mills of Echizen Washi in the Fukui Prefecture.
