Kuruma Shrimp "Kuruma-ebi" also known as the ''Japanese tiger prawn'' are nocturnal prawns that grown to a length of 20 cm and live on sandy mud bottoms. They are called "Kuruma'' (car) shrimp in Japanese because their stripes make them look like a wheel when they curl up. They are considered to be a delicacy, especially when served in early summer to fall. They are commonly grilled with salt or used for tempura or sashimi.
