Also known as the Chinese mantis, its body length is about 68-95 mm. The female is larger than the male and the abdomen is thicker. It earned the nickname "praying mantis" because of its sickle shaped hands that look like he is praying when viewed from the side. Mainly active in the daytime, feeding on other small to large insects and bugs. The wings are more for gliding than flying, and are often used for displaying itself larger against enemies. During night activities, the eyes turn black like cats pupils.
