Evergreen "matsu" (pines) are a symbol of good fortune. Goyou-matsu (white pine) were also thought to bring prosperity to merchants as the word "Goyou" written in different kanji could mean (business). New Year's greetings and a character of good fortune are embroidered to be suitable for the New Year and celebrating occasions. *The towels are made in Sneshu (Osaka) where towels originated and spread across the country.
