The Eel "Unagi" is a nocturnal and carnivorous fish with a thin cylindrical-shaped body that is about 1 m long. They hatch in the sea and then swim upstream to freshwater areas. They are rich in vitamins, and often eaten in the summer. Used as a special cuisine during the "Ox day", where it is believed to bring good fortune, strength, and vitality. This tradition started over 300 years ago.
