These fish are often used for "Goldfish Scooping " games and thus became the most familiar goldfish in Japan. Formally, they are actually called "Wakin". "Koaka", which means ''small Wakin'', is just the name used in the goldfish scooping game. When they grow they are often called "Anekin", which means ''sister goldfish''. They are primitive and tough, which make them easy to keep as pets.

The patches can be ironed on cotton and polyester materials. Use a damp cloth under the iron when ironing, and be extra careful if you are ironing on heat-sensitive materials. Machine-stitching is recommended to enhance strength.
