Lionfish "mino-kasago" is about 30 cm long, vivid redfish that have venom around their dorsal fins. During the daytime, these nocturnal fish hide behind coral and rocks. Warriors likened their appearance to bravery, which is why they are used for decorations incurring luck during Boys' festival. Their fatty firm texture is delicious. Good for hot pot, stewed, grilled with salt or fried. Best season to enjoy is winter!
