Frustum Teapot Mini - White / Yamatsu

A mini version of the Red Dot Design Award 2020-winning Frustum teapot, designed to brew approximately two cups of Japanese green tea.

Frustum is a modern refinement of traditional Japanese tea ware, redesigned for contemporary living to help us rediscover the simple pleasure of tea.

The defining feature of the design is the distinctive edge running around the middle of the teapot body. This form is inspired by traditional shapes long found in iron kettles (tetsubin) and other tea ware from the Tohoku region of Japan.

Always remove the metal handle and tea strainer before placing the teapot in the microwave.

Information

The teapot comes with a built-in tea strainer.

The Black Glaze, White Glaze and Thin Ink finishes have smooth surfaces, while the Unglazed and Shiro-Ai Glaze finishes have a slightly textured surface. Choose the finish that best suits your lifestyle.

If the handle feels loose after attaching it, remove it, gently widen the handle by hand, and then insert it again.

Metal Handle — Made in Tsubame

The metal handle is made in Tsubame-Sanjo, Japan, a region renowned for its metalworking craftsmanship.

Please gently clean the handle with a dry cloth.

Stainless Steel
Silver in colour. Resistant to rust and less prone to changes in appearance over time.

Brass
A muted gold colour. With regular care using a dedicated brass-cleaning cream, you can enjoy the natural patina that develops over time.

Copper Plated
A pink-gold colour that develops its own character over time. Please note that the copper plating may wear off with use.

Attaching the Metal Handle

The handle is intentionally slightly narrow when new.

Hold both ends of the handle with both hands and gently widen it before attaching it to the teapot. Inserting it from either the front or the back will make attachment easier.

Please do not widen the handle too much, as this may cause the attachment points to crack.

The areas where the handle attaches are delicate and can be damaged easily. Please handle them with care and never force the handle into place.

About Metal Marks

Friction between the metal handle and the porcelain may occasionally leave dark marks, known as metal marks, on the surface. These do not affect the functionality or safety of the teapot.

If you wish to remove the marks, first remove the metal handle. Then place a piece of kitchen paper soaked in an acidic cleaner over the affected area and allow it to soak for a while before cleaning.

Please follow the instructions and safety precautions provided with your cleaning product when using an acidic cleaner.
