The flower vase from "knot" and its familiar form.
These single flower vases, made by the Japanese design studio "knot", are created with the durable wood from a cypress. The shape of the vase reminds us of the famous coca-cola bottle. The material combined with the shape gives this vase quite a contemporary feel. Inside the vase resides a small holder made of glass, wherein a flower can be placed along with some water.
The story behind this product
To add to the text above, we would like to inform you about a domestic problem of forest management in Japan. After the war, the former Japanese government planted cypresses all over the land, because cypresses grow fast. But this, unfortunately, caused an imbalance in the biodiversity of Japanese nature. Many Japanese ecologists say that this imbalance is the cause of many natural disasters. This is why many young designers and companies decide to use cypress for their products. By cutting down the excessive trees and planting other new ones, the forest will be enriched and the biodiversity will be restored again. So this means that these vases are a very sustainable product.
