YAMAPPAKAMA x NODATE is a traditional Japanese outdoor workwear called Yamappakama redesigned with the Sashiko-woven textile. This workwear called Yamappakama has been worn in the Aizu region for over 400 years. In the north of Japan, winters were very harsh and the stitched embroidery technique of Sashiko flourished. Sashiko is made by sewing threads into cloth, for decorative or functional reinforcements of clothes and for the warmth. The textile used for these pants is called lined-sashiko, which is a precious fabric that won the Japan Folk Crafts Museum Award. The textile is made by Sanwa Orimono, the sole weaving manufacturer that makes machine-woven Sashiko textiles.
