"Ise-ebi" are large and expensive Japanese spiny lobsters living in the shallow seas of the subtropical zone. They are about 20 to 30 cm long. "Ise" comes from the name of the place where once a big lobsters population was found. Due to its bright, red color it has long been considered a food that brings good luck. Because of that, it became an essential part of new year decorations and celebratory feasts. Its elegant posture conveys bravery.
