About 14 cm long birds from the Canary Islands that where then domesticated in Europe. They were brought to Japan between 1603 and 1867 where they became very popular due to their bright yellow plumage and clear, beautiful voices. Because they are very sensitive to gasses, they have also been used in the mining industry to detect toxic gasses underground.
*Bright colored bird patches are easily ironed onto any fabric like T-shirts, handkerchiefs or your favorite bag. Iron them on and take a long relaxing walk looking for songbirds.
