Unlike regular silk, raw silk is made without killing the silkworms in their cocoons, so it is called "vegan silk" or "Ahimsa silk". Made from 100% natural silkworms, it can be washed with water and is not dyed, making it an "ethical" material that has attracted attention in recent years.
