Ito Jakuchu was an active painter in Kyoto during the Edo period. Peacock and Phoenix is a pair of paintings drawn on paper scrolls. It is one of several works that are well-known and appreciated in present days. This beautiful art piece with pines and peony in the background was lost for 83 years then rediscovered in 2016. It's said to be one of Jakuchu's greatest masterpieces.
