BENKEI-JIMA

"BENKEI-JIMA" is a traditional Japanese stripe pattern named after the legendary warrior monk Benkei from the Heian period.

This design symbolizes the nobility and sincerity of the samurai spirit. Its calm and understated appearance has made it a popular choice for kimono, "FUROSHIKI" (wrapping cloth), and "OBI" (sashes).

"TENUGUI" is a hand-dyed rectangular cloth that has been used daily in Japan since ancient times.

"KOMON" means "small patterns" in Japanese, and this collection features a series of "TENUGUI" adorned with these traditional KOMON designs.

Many of these KOMON patterns are traditional motifs cherished by common people for over 100 years. Each pattern has its own name and meaning, carrying a unique story behind it.
