The Japanese sewing scissors (Nigiri Basami)of Banshu Hamono are hand forged from a single Japanese "ao-hagane" blue steel, which is excellent in its sharpness as well as durability for long-time use.
They are crafted to perfection by one of the last few craftsmen in this blacksmith area of Banshu region in Hyogo prefecture.
At MONO SHOP, we have selected the most versatile 105mm size, which is slightly longer then the normal ones. These scissors are traditionally used to cut fabrics and threads because the cutting edge of the scissors is thin and sharp, but you can also use it for different purposes. MONO SHOP staff cherishes them for snipping the kitchen herbs and for embroidery.
The silhouette and colour of this scissors is very beautiful and it’s a treasure to have one of these at home. Each piece of hand forged scissors is wrapped in local fabric (Banshu weave) cloth and comes in a Japanese washi paper box, making it also a perfect gift to your loved ones.
