The story of Issun-bōshi (The One-Inch Boy)
A childless couple was blessed with a tiny boy no taller than one sun (about 3 cm).
At the age of fifteen, he set out to become a great samurai, traveling down the river toward the capital in a bowl for a boat, using chopsticks as oars.
In the capital, he met a princess and bravely fought off an ogre to protect her, wielding a needle as his sword. After his victory, he obtained the magical mallet (uchide no kozuchi) left behind by the ogre, which grants wishes.
Using its power, he grew into a fine young man of full height (about 180 cm) and married the princess.
