The Story of Kasa
Jizō (the Jizō Statues)
A poor old man living in the snowy mountains was on his way home after trying to sell bamboo hats, but none had sold.
Along the road, he saw six Jizō statues standing in the cold, covered in snow. Feeling sorry for them, he placed the five unsold hats on their heads and used his own cloth to cover the last one.
That night, he heard a noise outside. When he looked, he found piles of rice and rice cakes left in front of his home, and in the distance, he saw the six Jizō figures walking away.
Thanks to their gifts, the old couple was able to welcome the New Year in peace.
