The story of Urashima Tarō A young fisherman named Urashima Tarō saved a turtle and was taken beneath the sea to the Dragon Palace. There, he was welcomed by Princess Otohime and enjoyed a wondrous time filled with feasts and dances by fish.
After a few days, he decided to return to the surface. As a parting gift, Otohime gave him a mysterious box called a tamatebako, with strict instructions not to open it.
However, upon returning home, he opened the box—and instantly turned into an old man with white hair. The few days he had spent in the Dragon Palace had been hundreds of years in the world above.
