Small nocturnal owl of about 20 cm long. Lives in broadleaf trees and eats insects during the night. Owls with ear-shaped feathers on their head are generally called Horned (Eared) Owls, or ''Mimizuku'' in Japanese. Their call sounds like "Buppouso" to Japanese people.
