"Beauty Holding a Ball and Fan" by Kitagawa Utamaro
This artwork features a young woman adorned with a large tortoiseshell comb and peony hairpins, holding a ball and a fan. Her hairstyle, known as tōrōbin, was highly fashionable during the mid-Edo period. The print captures the rapidly changing interests of youth.
