“Princess Kaguya” When he split open the shining bamboo, he found a tiny girl inside. The old man named her “Princess Kaguya” and decided to raise her with care. As she grew into a beautiful young woman, Princess Kaguya tearfully confessed that she was a moon spirit and must return to the moon. On the night of the full moon, she bid farewell to the old man and returned to the moon.
This fan is made using the “sashi-bata” technique, where the handle is inserted into the “uchiwa-men” (fan face) that creates the breeze. It features vibrant Japanese paper collages depicting Japanese landscapes. It can be used as an accompaniment to summer festivals or as decoration.
