"Portraits of the Great Actors: Zama, the Fifth Danjūrō" by Utagawa Toyokuni
The kabuki play "Zama" features a scene where a villain aiming for the throne captures innocent men and women, preparing to execute them. Just then, the hero, Kamakura Gengorō Kagemasa, makes a dramatic entrance, using his superhuman strength to rescue them. The print captures the expressive kumadori makeup representing anger, along with the exaggerated boat-shaped eboshi (traditional hat) and hairstyle.

Our postcards, based on Echizen Washi, illustrate Japanese culture using vibrant colored washi paper. The first theme is "Ukiyo-e."
The term "postcard" comes from "hashigaki," meaning "edge writing." Originally, it referred to written notes or memos on small pieces of paper.
