“Urashima Taro” A young fisherman named Urashima Taro was taken to Ryugu Palace by a turtle he had rescued. He was welcomed by Princess Otohime and enjoyed a delightful time feasting on delicious food and watching the fish dance. A few days later, when it was time to return to the surface, he opened the treasure box he had received from Princess Otohime as a souvenir, and suddenly, he had turned into an old man with a white beard.
This fan is made using the “sashi-bata” technique, where the handle is inserted into the “uchiwa-men” (fan face) that creates the breeze. It features vibrant Japanese paper collages depicting Japanese landscapes. It can be used as an accompaniment to summer festivals or as a decorative element.
