Pars pro totem — Meet the Maker: Daan Simons (Tsugi Woodworks)

At the end of 2024, during the opening of our store in Rotterdam, woodworker Daan Simons of Tsugi Woodworks presented a unique fragment of his own table — a small, autonomous object built from a single joinery element. This piece distilled both the function and beauty of the connection, and immediately captured visitors’ curiosity.

By popular request, Daan has now created new editions of this work. Titled Pars pro totem — “a part representing the whole” — each piece reflects the essence of the original table while holding its own meaning as a standalone work.

To mark the launch of these editions in our shop, Daan will be present at the MONO JAPAN Store on Saturday, 27 September.

Visitors will have the chance to:
