RIFATTO Pop-up: One-of-a-kind garments crafted with sashiko & boro
10–13 September (Wed–Sat) at MONO JAPAN STORE
At this MONO JAPAN STORE pop-up, RIFATTO presents one-of-a-kind garments crafted by Yuya Kobayashi using traditional Japanese techniques such as sashiko and boro. Each piece begins with a vintage garment carrying the marks of its past life—stories woven by its former owner. Through careful mending and stitching, these memories are reawakened, ready to embrace new journeys. Wearing RIFATTO means adding your own chapter to a fabric’s long and layered history.
Artist: YUYA KOBAYASHI
Established in 2009, RIFATTO
A brand that breathes new life into vintage garments through the mastery of traditional Japanese sewing techniques. Drawn to the idea that remaking the old can give birth to something truly one-of-a-kind, the founder taught himself to sew, driven by an unshakable fascination with the art of remake. Using methods such as sashiko stitching, boro mending, and machine sewing, he creates singular pieces—each one a quiet rebellion against mass production. Inspired by the ordinary moments that give shape to daily life, RIFATTO’s work is not merely about repurposing clothing — but about weaving together the past, the present, and the yet-to-come. Each vintage garment carries a story—etched into its fabric by its former owner. Through the act of remaking RIFATTO seeks to give those stories a new beginning.
