Introducing Our New Private Brand Matcha!
We are thrilled to announce a collaboration with Yamaei, a renowned tea company from Kakegawa, Shizuoka, a famous region for Japanese tea. We're now offering a special selection of their premium matcha under our own private brand.
Yamaei was founded in 1927 as a fertilizer company and has since expanded to become a tea processor using its own organic fertilizers. Yamaei's teas are known for a perfect balance of subtle bitterness and deep umami, making them approachable even for those new to Japanese tea. Their outstanding quality has been recognized with numerous awards.
The farming practices in this region are globally recognized for their agricultural value, promoting biodiversity and sustainable coexistence with nature. This method focuses on utilizing natural resources and integrating biodiversity into farming. Farmers use adjacent grasslands (called chagusaba) which are mowed and used as mulch. This protects the soil, prevents erosion, and enriches it with organic matter. The grasslands also serve as a habitat for beneficial insects, helping to maintain a healthy ecosystem. All of our matcha is organically grown using these traditional farming methods from Shizuoka.
