This piece is dyed using a technique called bundle dye, a natural dyeing method in which flowers and leaves are wrapped onto fabric to transfer their colors and shapes directly onto the surface.
For this version, the technique has been uniquely adapted by using paper leaves infused with plant dyes. The base is lightly splattered with sumi ink, then layered with small, pinecone-like dye materials (yaguradama) to create scattered brown accents.
As the pigments from the leaves transfer onto the fabric and shift naturally, the result is an organic pattern reminiscent of leaves gently scattered across the surface.
