The paper mache is prayed at Manzoku Inari Shrine in Higashiyama, Kyoto.

Paper mache (Hariko) is a traditional Japanese toy made of Japanese paper.
It has a fortune paper inside and can be used as a decoration after the fortune paper has been taken out and read. The fortune paper is written in Japanese.

2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. In Chinese Astrology, the Rabbit symbolizes patience and luck, which would mean that the Year of the Rabbit 2023 will bring what we have lacked in 2022: peace and success!

Rabbit is said to be a talisman of peace and an animal with the power to spare people from bad things. The Japanese kanji character for 'immunity (免れる)' is also said to be derived from the kanji 'rabbit (兎)'.
The area around the Okazaki Shrine in Kyoto was inhabited by wild rabbits, and thus rabbits were considered to be messengers of the gods, making the shrine famous as a shrine for safe childbirth.
