Domesticated silk moths cannot live without human control. The larvae eat mulberry and produce silk to make pupae cocoons. They are historically economically important insects which produce natural fiber silk. Adults silk moths are covered with white hair all over their bodies they cannot fly, and live for about 10 days without the need of food. *This patch was made using Japan engineered special metallic embroidery yarns, to try and get closer to nature's magnificent colors.

The patches can be ironed on cotton and polyester materials. Use a damp cloth under the iron when ironing, and be extra careful if you are ironing on heat-sensitive materials. Machine-stitching is recommended to enhance strength.
