The Hikizome Knot Bag is part of the Tōzai collection, a collaboration between Kukka and kiten.kyoto developed through the MONO MAKERS PROGRAM.
The textiles are hand-dyed by Kyoto-based artisans using the age-old hikizome technique originally used for noren flags. These subtle, time-honoured methods bring depth to each fabric, with soft gradients, expressive brushstrokes, and layered transparencies reflecting Kukka’s sensory impressions of Japan.
Colour lies at the heart of the collection. Three palettes — soft jade green, airy blue, and warm reddish brown — echo the rhythm of the day, from crisp morning light to the amber tones of dusk.
Size (without handle): W370mm x H235mm
Colour: soft jade green, airy blue, warm reddish brown

About the MONO MAKERS PROGRAM
This collection was created within the MONO MAKERS PROGRAM, an initiative by MONO JAPAN in collaboration with NN Life Japan.
The program brings together Dutch designers and Japanese makers, creating opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration and the development of new products. By combining different perspectives, materials, and techniques, each project explores new possibilities at the intersection of Dutch design and Japanese craftsmanship.
