Postcard - Rabbit and the moon

Regular price €5.25 Sale

The Mid-Autumn Festival, known as "Shuubun," is considered the time of year when the moon is at its most beautiful. In Japan, the tradition of moon viewing has existed since the Heian period, where people express gratitude for the harvest by offering pampas grass and rice dumplings while admiring the moon. The belief that the patterns on the moon resemble a rabbit making mochi is uniquely Japanese.

The term "postcard" comes from "hashigaki," meaning "edge writing." Originally, it referred to written notes or memos on small pieces of paper. Our postcards from Rokushido are based on Echizen Washi and depict the vibrant seasonal landscapes of Japan using colorful washi paper.
