Great purple or Japanese emperor is a large butterfly of 50–55 mm. It is considered to be the national butterfly of Japan. The male wings are shiny, bluish-purple and beautiful. Inhabits well-maintained thickets all over Japan. It sucks the sap of oak and elm trees and loves the nectar of chestnut and harlequin flowers. It has a high flight ability and flaps powerfully enough that you can hear the sound of its wings when he passes by.

Attention
The patches can be ironed on cotton and polyester materials. Use a damp cloth under the iron when ironing, and be extra careful if you are ironing on heat-sensitive materials. Machine-stitching is recommended to enhance strength.
