A fabric panel for interior and wall decor Embroidered with a Botan bonsai. "Paeonia Suffruticosa". Botan came to Japan in the Nara period (AC710-792) as a herbal medicine. From its gorgeous bright red flower, botan was referred to as "The king of all flowers". In the Edo period (1600-1867), it became popular as ornaments and many books on botan were published.
